Spanish Interview with Adam

Here is another Spanish interview, very loosely translated into English.

What have you been doing today?
I watched the Lakers game this morning, I'm a huge fan of the team and [Spanish player] Pau Gasol. My dream is that Jack Nicholson may someday give me his courtside seats.

Do you notice the difference between the European and American crowds?
The crowds outside the U.S. are more excited for us. It's to be expected since we don't perform here as often. The Spanish public is definitely the most passionate.

Do you have any superstitions before going on stage?
I do, I have to be the last to go on stage. I wouldn't say it's a superstition, it's more like a tradition.

How was it opening for the Rolling Stones?
Very good.  We talked with them for a while and it was very exciting, they're great. We didn't overwhelm them with questions, we just looked and absorbed. They are people who've been doing this a long time.

Is there someone you would like to perform with on stage? Or somewhere you would like to perform?

Right now, with Al Green. We love what he does. I'd like to play in Hawaii, on the beach, that would be great!  We would also like to play in Russia and India.

How do you maintain your friendships?
The first essential thing is patience, the second is tolerance. It is also important to tell people who are important to you that you care and talk to them.

What is the secret to writing a good song?
Honesty. That is the important thing.

Do you read what people write about you?
Sometimes when things are good. People have their opinion and I have mine. What I do is see if our concerts are on TV to analyze our performance and do better next time.

Do you go to concerts of other bands?

Yes, that's what we like to do more than anything in the world. To watch others play and learn from them is very useful. I will look at Radiohead, for example. When we were younger, we were obsessed with Nirvana and the whole 'grunge' sound of the 90s.

Have you always wanted to be a musician?
Always. Since I was 10 years old I decided that this is what I was going to do. I started at school and never stopped. The best thing is that we started playing together for fun and even today we still have fun. But the luck factor is essential. What happened to us doesn't happen to everyone.

What do you know about Spanish music?
The truth is not that much. Well, flamenco, that is impressive. There is very good music in Spain, the musicians I've seen have impressed me. We're going to go to a flamenco show. Perhaps this evening.

Well said.

They were going to a flamenco show?
Awesome!
I hope when they come here they at least try to get involved with some of our culture.
